Jan, thanks so much for replying to this post and your info is a great help. I will reply by personal Email to you with more DeVane questions. I have info on some of the DeVanes you mention but I still cannot determine who was Marion Franklin's father. Too bad I wasn't into genealogy in earlier years. I used to visit both Keaton Beach and Deckle Beach in the 60s. Loved to fish there!
There is a G Marion DeVane b 1873 in Taylor Co, who was one of the younger children of James S Devane, b 1827 (brother to my DeVane descendant, Benjamin Franklin). I have no info on G Marion Devane but I wonder if Marion Franklin descends from him, possibly a grandson.
