Thanks for your reply. I have picked upsome details about Ebenezer. In 1799 Ebenezer Deuel was recorded as having purchased a license to sell "spiritous liquors" in Easton township (Jane Betsy Welling, THEY WERE HERE TOO, Vol. I, published in 1963 and reprinted in 1994, p. 12) Ebenezer was one of nine so licensed in the township. Ebenezer was not listed as an owner of the Inn in Easton Corners (Betsey Welling, p. 60). But no deeds remain for the early days of that inn. John Swain had the inn between 1790 and 1799; John was not in the 1800 census, so I suspect that he died in 1799. An old Swain woman, maybe his widow, was listed in the census, but not close to Ebenezer. (I am not an expert on Washington County history; I merely have a few books and some census reports.) Do you have any idea which inn Ebenezer owned or worked? If you know a detail like Ebenezer's working in the tavern business, you might have a reliable list of his children. Also I suspect that he did not die a Quaker. Any information here? Thank you again for your communication. I learn a great deal from these forums. Notify Administrator about this message?
