Hi, DeAnn:
I don't have a line on this Henry, but his wife was Catherine7(Elihu6-5, Jabez4, Philip3, John2, Philip1) Sherman, b. 3 April 1804, (in New Bedford, MA?) m. Henry Deuel in 1823 in Moonshine, Cayuga Co., NY. d. 14 Dec. 1870 in Seneca Co., OH. Jabez4 was a British navy lieutenant, an unusual occupation for a Dartmouth Quaker, and his wife Jedidah Hawes was a descendant of the Mayflower's John Howland. Philip1 Sherman, who is also my ancestor, was part of Ann Hutchinson's Antinomian faction that founded Portsmouth, RI in 1638. This family is reliably traced back for a number of generations in Yaxley and Dedham, Co. Essex, England
Do you have any other information on the origins of this Henry Deuel? He may have no connection to Richard & Cindy's Henry, but on the other hand:
1. Elihu6 Sherman lived in Rochester, MA, an unusual location for Shermans and all except one Deuel branch
2. Catherine had four brothers who were all living in Norwich, Oxford Co., Ontario by 1830, near Simcoe
3. Henry & Catherine named one child Ruben Deuel, which makes me think that this Henry Deuel's uncle or more likely great uncle could have been my ancestor Reuben4 Davol.
