rodolphus - charles h. - holland s.
I am looking for information on the following Duell line: Rodolphus Holland Duell (congressman, US Patent Comm., etc.), father of Charles Holland Duell (US Patent Comm), father of Holland Sackett Duell (lawyer, NY), father of Charles Halliwell Duell (publisher)...
My grandfather, John James Deuel (b. Passaic, NJ, 1883) had told his daughter that he had an uncle or a close cousin that was a lawyer in NY and another who was in publishing. He also said that he had close family in New Rochelle, New York. The above line fits that description perfectly (in fact, they were the only Deuels/Duells I found that lived in New Rochelle during my grandfather's lifetime, so I am assuming that this was to whom he was referring). The problem is that I cannot figure out how in the world we hook into this line...My grandfather was the son of John J. Deuel b. 1855 or 1856 in New York, Illinois or Canada. He was the son of Henry Deuel b. 1811, NY.Could Henry Deuel have been the brother of Rodolphus?I've seen some materials on his family and they make no mention of him having a brother named Henry.
Anyway, I would be very interested in hearing from the descedents of Rodolphus (even if you feel you have no clue of how to help me) or anyone else that has information.
Thank you.
Cindy Deuel
