I searched my files for your Martin Detweiler, but nothing matched exactly. My line (whose name changed to Tutwiler when they migrated from PA to VA settled in the Shenandoah Valley of VA in the late 1700s, after the first of the family, Heinrich D. Duttweiler (a.k.a. Henry Tutwiler) and his wife, Verena Surber and sons, Leonard and Henry and his daughter, Anna emigrated to PA from Oberweningen, Switzerland in 1753. Most of the members of this family (in Switzerland and in the States) were dealers in skins and leather. They were also dealers in wood, makers of furniture. One source of research tells me that it is a fact that in every branch of the family of this name, there was among the treasured belongings wooden chests brought from the old country by the first emigrants to America. I don't know if your family is kin to mine, but perhaps some of these names or places may match.
