Hello Polly Jackson
I am writing my father's family history and today decided to google 'Dettmer' his mother's maiden name. I saw your posting to Dettmers in Iowa so am writing to learn more.
If your great grandfather was Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Dettmer, born in 1878, then we are related. He was a brother of my grandmother, Caroline Dettmer, born in Bolsehle, Germany in 1864.
