1. JOHN FREDERICK1 DUDMAN was born 09 Nov 1819 in Mechlenberg, Germany, and died 24 Feb 1904 in Kinmount, Ontario.. He married (1) JANE MCGUIRE, daughter of THOMAS MCGUIRE and MARY WHITE. She was born 31 May 1828 in County Cavan, Ireland, and died 28 Apr 1917 in Kinmount, Ontario.. He married (2) DORAH COBEN. She died 1865 in Kinmount, Ontario..

John Dudman had 3 sons and a daughter from his first marraige before he married Jane Maguire/McGuire who had been previously married to a Mr. Harris. Source: Joseph Ingram Jane Maguire/McGuire's notes.
John Frederick Dudman came from Mecklenburgh, Germany where he was a coachman for a very wealthy family. He came to Canada about 1855 where he first lived in Port Hope, then in 1857/58 he moved to Kinmount. His name was originally Dettman, but upon arriving in Kinmount he learned there was another Dettman family and so to avoid confusion he changed his name to Dudman.

Quoted from the letter by Jean C. Ingram, Dec. 16, 1945 quoting Maguire/McGuire family history recorded by Joseph Ingram, Jean's father.
"Jane Maguire first Married a Mr. Harris, having two daughters by that marriage. After his death she married a Dutch man, John Dudman, who had three sons and one daughter. To that marriage Jane had one daughter, Emma (now Mrs. Mulnox) and one son, William; both of them live at Kinmount yet. William never married but lived with his bachelor half-brother Charles Dudman, who died in 1944 at age 90."

1901 Haliburton Census indicates Jane Dudman immigrated to Canada in 1847. Both her sister Margaret & brother William were lodgers with Jane and according to the census immigrated in 1854. Source: census lookup by Jim Downard

"Again the Angel of death visited this vicinity on April 29th, and claimed
for its victim one of our aged and highly respected settlers, Mrs. Jane
Dudman (Jane McGuire), widow of the late John Dudman. The deceased was born in Ireland May 31st, 1831, and came to Canada at an early age, later coming to Kinmount about fifty years ago, where she remained until her death. She was a loving mother, a kind neighbour to everyone, and her departure is keenly felt by a great many. After a brief illness of three days she passed to her final resting place in her 86th year, her illness being chiefly due to weakness. She leaves to mourn her loss three sons and one daughter, namely: William and Charles (stepson), at home; Mrs. Duncan Molyneaux, of Union Creek; Henry (stepson) of Burnt River, and her sister, Mrs. S. Morgan, of Kinmount. Her husband and son Jim (stepson) predeceased her thirteen years ago; also her daughters, Mrs. John Lyle, of Kinmount, and
Mrs. John Clark, of Kansas, have predeceased her. Those who attended her funeral from a distance were her granddaughters, Irene Molyneaux, of White Lake, and Hazel Molyneaux of Gelert; her nieces, Mrs. F. Hamilton, of Bethany, and Mrs. W. Kincaid of Peterborough; her nephews, Mr. Joe Ingram of Peterborough, and Mr. John Ingram, of Toronto. The sorrowing ones have the deepest sympathy of their many friends and neighbours"

(This is the same Duncan Molyneaux as in Reg #12143-95. It looks like the marriage was registered twice to account for the interchange of names between the original German name Duttman and the family who changed the spelling to Dudman. Strange but understandable as the bride wanted to make sure she was properly married?)
