VA Detricks - Teterig and/or Tetric

I am a descendant of Jacob Detrick (Hardy County). Does anyone have any idea as to how Teterig became Detrick (did it?) or how Detrick became Teterig. Did the Detrick ancestor(s) come over as Detricks, Teterig, or some variation?
