Hi, My name is Gary Detlefs and I live in Durban, South Africa. I am the 9th generation and have managed to trace our family back to a Johannes Detlefs who was a sailor that came to South Africa on a ship called the Hageveld from Dithmarschen in 1753. Johannes married Aletta Claasen from Delve in Dithmarschen in 1773 and they had an only son in 1774. Today Detlefs is a well known SA name. I am keen to get information on our continental origins.
