Hi Mike.
Pretty cool that you have family in Castle Rock. I know where that is. I live in the metro area which is north of Castle Rock. That (C.R.) is a nice area.
Yes, I imagine the lady from Columbine was upset, especially having graduated from the there. It was very upsetting to many, many people around here. I have a son in high school & after the masacre, it was an emotional time for a lot of parents to send their children (my middle school & elementary children as well) off to school. Being that it happened so close to home, nothing felt safe any more. I took my 3 children to the memorial that they set up in the park close to Columbine. Oh My God!!! What a heart-breaking scene it was. I'll never EVER forget the pain that was witnessed, the outpouring of love & prayers for all concerned & the massive amount of tokens (flowers, crosses, candles, pictures, etc.). I've never seen anything like it. My kids & I made a cross with written words of blessings & set it under a tree. I felt it was important for my kids to view first hand the huge effect such a horrible act has on many lives. Oh, & the crosses that were erected for each of the victims......that was a very moving sight to see - they sat on top of a hill. We tromped through mud & rain to view all of this & slide our way up & down the hill to walk around the crosses & see the names on them. Like I said, I'll never forget. And neither will my kids. I have a good friend that worked their at the time as well. She & several other staff members were held up in an office with bullets flying over their heads. My friend had close contact, on several occassions, with the two boys that commited the crimes. It was especially hard for her to deal with. Also, I know a relative of the teacher that died. But, you know, God & time heal all wounds & life goes on.
Anyways, thanks for the keeping in touch. My "honey" must be thinking I'm going crazy with this Det stuff. Although, he likes PD's work too. I'm more obsessed with it. LOL
