Hi Margaret:
My husband is Byron Detamore. His line goes all the way back to Jacob Detamore(Johann Christian ). He was the first Detamore here. He was a Hessian Soldier. Jacob was born abt 1756, in Hessel Kessel , Germany.
After the Revolutionary War he went to McGaheysville, Virginia. He became a minister of the German Reform Church.
The people that knew him, called his Old Granddad Detamore. He was very well loved.
He married Elizabeth Coaler. They had six children: 1. Henry Detamore
2. Johan Jacob Detamore
3. Christian Detamore
4. Margaret Peggy Detamore
5. Maria Catherine Detamore
6. John George Detamore

Jacob died: June 3, 1822 in McGaheysville.
Elizabeth died: abt. 1820
They are both buried in the cemetery at the Old Peaked Mountian Church in McGaheysville, Virginia.
This is were the family had their membership.

My husbands line comes from #2 Johan Jacob Detamore.
If I can help, please let me know.
Stephanie Detamore
