Avellino is in the mountains about an hour outside of Naples (Campania) - its a very lovely area. There are many De Stefano's in this area especially with the unique spelling of DE.. vice DI... The Germans were in the area but I had excellent luck finding records on my family. I suggest you try the Mormans. They have many records from small towns and villages on microfilm which can be borrowed.
