Avellino Italy Area DeStefano's?

I was told my family (The DeStefano's) came from the Avellino Area in a town called Lacedonia. And I would like to know more about the Town, and its people! Its my dream to visit it, and find some records of my Great Grandfather Antonio DeStefano". I haven't worked on my Family Tree in a long while because i was told the birth records there were burned by the Germans, but I never found out for sure! I will appreciate any help!
