Dessaur is Dutch/Jewish?

interested to see there is a page for similar spellings to my family name. I have found in my research that the spelling Dessau is German (a family of this name lives in my town, but are in no way realted)My father always said it was french, but I have traced it back to Dutch Jews (my gr gr grandfather came to England from Holland and married in a synagogue).
Most interested if anyone has any comments. Gillian
