I am Amanda Josephine Stockham (OETTEL) My father is the son of Ellwood James Oettel and Avis Marie DEROSIA (how she spelled it). Her father was Austin John DeRosia(how he spelled it). Austin's father was Matthew Henry Des Rosier (how he spelled it) and his father was indeed the Pierre Desrosier born in 1822 that you seek. I only found this posting because I was trying to verify dates of birth that I have on Pierre's children with Marie-Rose Chartrand. I told my uncle when I started doing genealogy a couple weeks ago that things are kind of a mess when our decendants got to North America. Phoenic spelling took over and things were spelled as they sounded. Thus all the Desrosier changes. But I have listed as Pierre's children Frederick, Joseph Entime, Rose, Matthew Henry, Azeline Caroline, Phoebe, Albert Trefale, Emily, Louise, Austin August, Helen and Amelia. Could you do me a HUGE favor??? Could you send me a good photo copy of that death certificate on Pierre Desrosier? It's really important for us. Our line stopped dead in the genealogy we were doing until this morning when I looked for "Peter" as Pierre. I just started doing this two weeks ago...I dream about it at night and when I wake up it's all I do. Please feel free to give me a call 618-624-6697.
