I have seen Derosiers as far back as 1617 in the old French province of Auvergne, and arriving in New France around 1641. Some worked within the fur-trading village of Trois Rivieres. Dowry's and marriage contracts were provided back than. As the French were wont to do at the time, each took a unique alias or "dit" name which distinguished their families. Dit names that were common were Desilets, LeFreniere, DuTremble, Dargy or Dargie, Dargis...etc., I hope this helps...BryanP.
