I have extensively researched the Desrosiers dit Lafreniere back to the original Antoine who came to Canada about 1630. My mother was Leah LaFreniere, born in Houghton County, Mi, shortly after the family came from Ste. Beatrix, Quebec. There are various spellings and ways of using the name that are too complicated to get into here. There are many Josephs in the family, including several of my grandfathers in my direct line. I would be happy to exchange info with you.
