Your name was probably shortened to LaFreniere. I believe it was my husband's grandfather who changed his name from desrosiers to DeRosia. My husband's family was from Michigan and before that Trois Riviers, Canada. There is a Joseph desrosiers dit LaFreniere in his line, but he was born in Quebec in 1759. Joseph's son was Amable born in 1830 and his son was Francois Regis bor.n in 1831. If any of these names are familiar to you, please let me know .Gayle
