ACCORDING TO WHAT I HAVE FOUND, THE ORIGINAL NAME WAS DESROSIERS. IN THE 1600'S, 5 BROTHERS CHOSE "DIT" NAMES TO ADD TO DESROSIERS. ANTOINE DESROSIERS CHOSE LAFRENIERE, BECOMING ANTOINE DESROSIERS DIT LAFRENIERE.
