(Sorry for my poor english)
My family is originary from France, south-west of Burgundy, what we call Nivernais, in the south of Nevers, between Loire and Allier rivers.
As far as we have been able to find, our Desroches family 's ancesters in direct line are all born in the following towns : Dornes, Saincaize-Meauce, Mars-sur-Allier, Magny-Cours, Saint-Parize-le-Chatel, Avril-sur-Loire or Saint-Parize-en-Viry, which delimitates a very small aera of about 20 kms.
The most ancient person at this stage of our researches is Jean Desroches, born in 1701 and died in 1771 in Mars-sur-Allier.
We know that there was one and one only other Desroches family in this region and that its last representant died in 1861.
We also know that a parent of us named Leonard Desroches came back from Canada to France during the year 1913 or 1914 to see his originary family, but we lost his steps.
I am writing on this forum today because we would be very pleased to get any informations on persons that you could have found and who would be born in one of the towns I mentionned, or on persons who are relatives to the first ones, or on that precise Leonard Desroches.
Thank you for any help.
