I to would like a few pointers on researching your Spanish heritage. Our DeSoto link is a Joseph DeSoto who came from Gilbrator and married Catherine Brennan. They were in New York some how and had Thomas B. DeSoto in Mahattan. How can I find out his ancestry that is from Gilbrator, Portugal, and Spain. We were told that he was show how related to Hernando de Soto the Explorer. I am researching because I would really like to know how as well as know the geneaology of the family.
