I wonder if we are talking the same Charles? My Charles Desmond (brother of my great Grandfather Harry)was born in Ireland after 1863 - I believe they came to this country after 1880. I have a letter from Charles to a publishing house in England that is dated August 06, 1931 and states that he is a Lt. Commander, U.S. Navy and gives his address as 181 Greenwood Avenue, Madison, N.J. I know that he had at least one son named Raymond (after a brother that died young). I believe that Raymond had a daughter born in New Jersey in 1949 named Tekla Rae Lucie Desmond.
These are the basics as I have them, from some of Charles' writings I am led to believe that the surname may have been changed from Pritchard to Desmond when they came to this country to escape liabilities owed due to a bank failure in England.
I really hope this gives you enough information that we might have a connection.
Regards - Bill Terrill
