I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Note 1 - Without a KNOWN parish, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%. Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database. Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome). For Johanna Desmond B 1839 +/- 2 yrs somewhere in Ireland with the father's forename unknown, I found 9 rcds: 5- 1837 Cork, 2-1838 Cork, 1840 Limerick, and 1841 Cork. For Johanna Desmond M 1860 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland, I found 7 rcds: 1856 Limerick, 1857 Cork, 2-1859 Cork, 1860 Cork, 1861 Cork, and 1862 Cork. For Dan(iel) Coleman M ditto, I found 5 rcds: 1856 Cork, 2-1856 Tipperary, 1860 Cork, and 1864 Sligo. The only potential match is in 1860 Cork. However, there isn't a match at the parish level. For Mary Desmond B 1845 +/- 2 yrs somewhere in Ireland with the father's forename unknown, I found 9 rcds: 2-1843, 2-1844, 3-1845, 1846, & 1847, all in Co. Cork. For Mary Desmond M 1866 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland, I found 8 rcds: 1862 Cork, 1863 Cork, 1864 Cork, 2-1865 Limerick, 2-1867 Limerick, and 1867 Cork. For Jeremiah Coleman M ditto, I found 2 rcds in 1867 Cork. The only rcd having a common yr/county is 1867 Cork. However, when I screened at the parish level, I didn't find a match. Note 2 may apply here. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps. Good luck. Notify Administrator about this message?
