My Grandmother, Sarah Collins of Biloxi Mississippi was the granddaughter of Timothy Desmond of County Cork. He was naturalized , I think, in 1857 in New Orleans, La. My mother has a family history and had an uncle named Desmond Collins. Her grandfather was Thomas Collins, he was a blacksmith as I recall. It is my understanding that there are cousins all along the US Gulf Coast from Houston to Mobile.
If this is of any help, I would be glad to look further.
