One of my g-g-grandmothers was Joanna Mahoney Lyons (1812-1879). She had at least two sisters that I know of. Her parents names were John and Catharine Mahoney. I am trying to find the origin of the Mahoneys in Ireland. I suspect it was in the area of Bandon, County Cork. The Mahoneys settled in Boston, Massachusetts. One of Joanna's sisters was Ellen Mahoney, 1826-1895. She married in Boston 1st John Deacy, 1826-1852 and 2nd John Drynan, 1832-1901. Her daughter, Annie Deacy, 1847-1913, married Thomas F. McCormick, 1845-1923) of Boston. Their daughter, Helen Gertrude McCormick, 1882-1918, married Anthony Edward Navin. One of their daughters was Sr. Joseph Anthony of the Medical Missionaries of Mary who died in 1991. Another Mahoney was Catharine Mahoney Hart, (1831-1903). She married (Possibly James or Martin) Hart. She adopted a daughter, Margaret Desmond who took the name of Margaret Hart. Margaret Desmond Hart later married a Daniel Mahoney. Margaret Desmond Hart Mahoney's sister Ellen was the 2nd wife of John Drynan. A third Desmond sister was Nora Desmond who married James Brennan. I'd be interested in corresponding with any descendants of these other lines. Henry Scannell, Boston, Mass. Notify Administrator about this message?
