Find my grt-grdfather! Dennis Desmond.

Greetings to you all,
I was born in Australia to the daughter of Gordon Dennis Desmond Jones. This is my maternal grandfather, and he was born G.D.D. in 1910.
His father was Dennis Desmond, a photographer, apparently. His mother was Gertrude Cager/Caiger/Kayger/Kaiger. She went to London from Bosham/Chichester/Sussex/UK to bear him, and called herself Mrs Desmond in the process, althpough not legally married. My grandfather will not talk about his illegitimacy even now, even though his daughter (my mother)and I have Desmond as our middle name! I am finding it hard to get going with my family history, so any leads are very welcome, before I send off for copies of birth certs. etc.
