Thank you, Linda, for the information on Moses Wilson DeShazo. He was obviously too busy with other wives (also a bit too old) to be the Wilson who married Yancy Whitehead. Alas, there are so many DeShazos with the name Wilson it is quite difficult to keep up with them. For awhile we had great hopes for Allen Wilson or Wilson A, sons of Moses Wilson's brother Paul Hamilton. A descendant, however, makes a convincing case that they are not brothers but are in fact the same person. Again, other known marriages rule out Paul Hamilton's son as Yancy's husband. We are currently focussed on Wilson B. DeShazo, son of Moses Wilson's brother Hugh Lawrence. Wilson B. was born at a time more appropriate for Yancy, 1858, and he shows up in Arkansas with a daughter of name and age that match a child in a photograph of Yancy and her chlldren. Wilson B. has a second wife, and ends up in Texas. Still, there is much research needed to establish this was Yancy's husband, and even if that were proved, there is much information needed about what happened to Yancy and what happened to her children, especially Annie, who was 16 in 1900. All information, hints, leads, and tips are most appreciated.
