Deshazo Family Genealogy Forum

Roger, I am a DeShazo researcher and a new user to this site. Several years ago, I found William W. Deshazo (b.ca. 1824 GA) listed as a mechanic on the 1860 Pulaski Co., GA census. Near him are his parents, Robert (b.ca. 1792 SC) and Teady (??). Also shown is your Jacob and Martha Blount with a 2 year old Deshazo female in their household. It appears that her name may have been Melinda. I didn't know that William Deshazo had been married to their daughter, Judith. He is not shown on the census as a widower. Interestingly, William marries a Nancy Herrington on 9 Dec 1860. He died in 1864 or 1865. I can check his estate record. Nancy is listed as his widow and only one child is mentioned, a John Deshazo. Nancy later remarried and the son was adopted and did not use the Deshazo name. Did the child shown in the home with Jacob and Martha die in 1863? I am asking because a Millie Deshasier is shown in nearby Fayette Co., GA census at age 12 in the home of a David and Eady Drennan. I don't know what their connection (if any) to the Deshazo lines is. My 2nd great grandfather, Aaron is also in Fayette Co in 1863. I think that Millie was his daughter from his first marriage to a "Letha" Pate (of Cowetta Co., GA). I wondered if the older Millie and the Malinda shown in Jacob and Martha's home could have been the same (as I believe that Aaron was a grandson of Robert and Teady - he would have been the only child of their son, John Deshazo who was Wm's older brother). Anyway, your posting of the Blount Bible brings up a whole new aspect of this family!
