In Land Records of Attakapas District - Conveyance Records of Attakapas Co. 1804-1818 by Glenn Conrad, pg 94 has: slave sale Apr 11, 1810. Robert Desha of Tennessee & Thomas Belew sold slave named Polly to Jean Thibodeau. In Sumner Co. TN Abstracts of Wills (by Whitley) and also in a book by Shirley Wilson: Pg 23 will of Robert Desha May 6, 1816, mentions sons John, Joseph, Robert, Benjamin, and James (who lives at a great distance) and daughters Nancy Killgore, Nelly Cockes, Phoebe Bunton, Polly Reese wife of Charles Reese, Betsy Dowell wife of Benjamin Dowell. also mentions grandsons John Drummand and Israel Reese. Also mentions land in upper Louisiana and Mississippi Territory. In 1850, there was a Robert Desha, age 39, in Franklin Co. LA, living near the Ballews. I do not have a Desha ancestor (as far as I know) but am looking for Ballews. Ballews-Ripleys intermarried.
