Still trying to ID the father of Franklin deSha born about 1824 somewhere in GA; thought to have been the younger of 2 boys born to a Mariah/Maria WHITEHEAD and either a Joseph OR George W. DESHA. Apparently a divorce was registered in Clarke County GA in 1826. By the 1840's Franklin, an older woman named Mary A. Hunter originally from SC are in Alachua County Florida. We don't know if this is Mariah Fay, his mother since remarried and perhaps widowed or someone who may have raised him following the death of his mother or....
Florida deSha family history researchers believe the name was George. There are several descendents with that name. However Joseph is also in the family as is the name Fay.
Franklin married into the Parrish family, daughters in turn of Ezekiel and ..... a Mariah/Miriah Faye Parrish. Faye being Mariah's maiden name, according to 5 sources which could all be wrong or not.
Robert Isaac Newton deSha is thought to have been the older brother to Franklin. I am trying to trace this line out in west GA and Chattanooga TN now.
Can anyone add anything that might help solve this mystery?
