I descend from Mary Desha, d/o John Desha, who married Abner Overfield in about 1777. Mary was the sister of Robert Desha, the father of Joseph Desha, Gov. of Kentucky and U.S. Congressman. Would love any information on this family. I do not have the name of Mary's Mother or much additional information on this family. Mary and Abner had a daughter, Eleanor Overfield, who married Joseph Adair. They had a son Abner John Adair who helped to lay out the town of Independence, Missouri and fathered the first white child in Jackson County, Missouri. My Mother is Sue Ellis Adair. I would also like clarification on the pronunciation of the name "Desha".
