I now have:
Etienne-Benoit Roy-dit-Desjardins-Lauzier (Augustin (Capitaine of Milice) & Marie Angelique Lizot)
Marie Charlotte Moreau (Louis-Amable Moreau & Marie Anne Grondin)
Marriage:July 15th 1782 in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière
When their son Stanislas Roy-Lauzier married Marie Donneville-Belleau (a minor) on 23 May 1815, I believe that it was Marie-Charlotte Moreau that was noted as the Veuve (widow)Benoit Lauzier in the marriage of her adopted minor daughter Marie Donneville-Belleau.
In the document it is said
Marie Donneville-dit-Belleau a minor adoptive daughter of the Veuve (widow)Benoit Lauzier, married Stanislas Roy major son of Benoit (capitaine of milce) & Charlotte Moreau.
It appears to me that Stanislas married his adopted sister.
Here comes the confusion, some individuals take the widow of Benoit Lauzier as being Stanislas sister-in-law Marie-Reine Gauvreau. This does not look right to me because Reine would have been too young to adopt a child and she died on 18 Mar 1815 before Marie Donneville-Belleau wedding.
Since Marie Donneville-Belleau’s origins has not been found some speculate that she was Indian.
I know this is all very confusing. If anyone has more information please let me know. Janet
