Vincent Derrick, Coryell Co. Home Guard?
Posted by: Jean Caddel Date: August 17, 2000 at 22:00:24

Have read in several places that Vincent Derrick was in the Coryell Co. Home Guard, but have not found any proof. Vincent was in Coryell Co. when the war started, alright, but moved to Denton Co. before the end of the war, and was in Lamar Co. when he died in 1865.
Have only found one Home Guard unit for Coryell Co., and he was not listed on it. There probably were several. Does anyone have information on other units?
Contacted the State Archives for a roster of the Coryell Co. Unit I found, but Vincent was not on it. Can someone please help me with this? We have recently restored Vincent's marker in Lee Cemetery, Lamar Co., Texas, and it is barely legible. Would like to order a Civil War Marker, but need some proof before doing so. Thanks for any help!
