My father was also a Jesse Derrick. He was named after an uncle, Jesse Brown Derrick, born January 16, 1842. Jesse Brown was the son of Jonathan Derrick, who had at least two brothers, although I only know of Absalom and Simon. According to our family history that has been handed down, Jonathan, Abalsom and Simon were born in McMinn County, TN. Jonathan moved to Webster County, MO and settled near Elkland and one of the brothers was supposed to have kept going west to Oklahoma. I haven't heard the 'Derk' name before. I'm just getting into this. What fun!
