The author of the article in the Jack Co. history book, Jean Caddell, states that she did not submit the middle name of Lewis; someone on the book committee made an error. So the name of the man was Washington only. There is no record what-so-ever of him being George Washington Derrick.
Washington Derrick was the son of Simon Derrick & Lydia Tipton. Simon was the son of Jacob Derrick and Margaret Fox. Jacob was the son of Simon Derk/Derrick & Catherina Margaretha Stapelton.
Telitha Alabama Fry was the daughter of Henry Fry and Anny Thomas. Henry was the son of Philip Fry and Maria Magdalena "Mary" Derrick. Mary was the daughter of John Derrick and Anna Maria "Mary" Dunkelberger. John was the son of Simon Derk/Derrick and Catherina Margaretha Stapelton.
So husband and wife, Washington and Telitha Alabama, were second cousins once removed.
