I still see no postings regarding this line from John Derrick (1824-5 TN) and it is 13 months later.
John Derrick is my Great Great Grandfather. His youngest daughter Martha P. Derrick is my Great Grandmother.
On the 1850 Dallas County, Missouri I found John Derrick age 26 (b) TN & wife Rebecca same age, born in Kentucky; the census was dated 4 October 1850.
They list their children:
George age 4yrs born in Missouri
Joseph age 2yrs born in Missouri
Nancy age 8 mos born in Missouri
On the 1870 Placer Co census I found:
John age 45
no wife listed
Joseph H age 22
James age 18
Sarah E. age 16
William age 15
Martha P. age 8
At this census Nancy Derrick was married to Elisha Webb (marriage date: Jul 2, 1870)
Martha was in fact born Jan 10, 1862 on the Derrick Ranch near Sheridan, Placer County, CA. She first married Samuel Hughes on Nov 7, 1882. They had 1 daughter Charlotte "Lottie" Hughes. On Aug 9, 1887 Martha Hughes married Matthew Leander Sandel. My paternal grandmother was their first born. She was born May 7, 1889 in Lincoln, Placer Co, CA. They had 2 other children 1 boy and another girl. Then Martha died March 19, 1899.
I remember a Sally Derrick being mentioned in my childhood. Could Sally be Sarah? Because I know her last name was Phelan and records show S.E. Derrick married on Dec 12, 1870 to E. Phelan. The Phelan's had at least 3 children (that I know of) Bige Phelan, Charles Phelan and Birdie Phelan who married Paul Simmons of Oregon House, CA.
{as a child I use to go the Simmons ranch/farm with my grandmother several times per year}
What else do you have on these lines, who were John's parents? Any one else have anything that will help me? I have just gotten started on this line. Thanks in advance.
