Mrs. Bettie A. Derrick, wife of J.W. Derrick, aged 66 years, died at their home here, Tuesday morning, after an illness of several months.
Mrs. Derrick was before her marriage Miss Bettie Henegar, of Saltville, Va. Since coming to Clayton to make her home she had made many friends because of her pleasant disposition and many beautiful traits of character. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was devoutedly religious and loyal to her church vows.
Beside her husband she leaves two sons, Gladstone and Andrew, and one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Khoury, of Jacksonville, Fla., and five grandchildren, Jimie, Dan, Mike and Patsy Derrick and Bettie Marie Khoury. Other relatives are three brothers and one sister.
The funeral was conducted from the Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. W.G. Henry, Jr., assisted by Rev. J.B. Brown, pastor of the Baptist Church, with Cannon Undertakers in charge.
The beautiful floral offerings manifested the high esteem in which the deceased was held by her friends and neighbors.
The sympathy of a host of friends go out to Mr. Derrick and the children in their bereavement.”
