I am trying to prove whether John Derrick a convict convicted in 1832 in Dorset, England and sent to Tasmania in 1833 was the son of John Derrick and Ann New.This John had a wife Eliza and 3 children, Matilda, Marina and Jane, who were left behind when he was transported. He came from Woodcutts, Sixpenny Handley in Dorset. This is the same village where my ancestor Anne Derrick (hopefully John's sister), was living at the time with her husband James Large, who was bailiff to Lord Pitt Rivers at Rushmore Estate nearby. I know that Ann had a younger brother John who is about the same age as this convict, as their baptisms were recorded in St Georges Hanover Square, London parish records. Any info gratefully received.
