John: info from Madison County, Al shows Tobias,Wm and Simon served in the War of 1812 from here.. their youngest son, Caswell B Derrick married Susannah Criner, daughter of Joseph Criner..one of the first permanet white settlers of Madison County.. an estate settlelment for WmTipton 1858 Jackson County, Al mentions Lydia Tipton Derrick (Tx) married to a Daniel or David Tipton.. with sons Wm,Tobias,Simon and Caswell as heirs.. The John Sharp estate settlement here in 1817 also shows that one or two of his daughters had married Derricks..one a Tipton..and that either Jonas or Jacob Tipton bought the Sharp Family Bibles (they were part of the Derricks who went either to Lee or Lamar County, TX with the Tiptons,Mcbrooms from Madison County)...Caswell B Derrick was born ca 1807 in TN and is buried in Nelson's Chapel Cemetery at Killingsworth Cove in Madison County, Al.. Chancery Court Recors of 1814 Madison County, Al show Wm Derrick and John Peters being sued by John Simmons for a breach of promise over a land deal here..case dismissed..about 1819..Peters lived at Maysville on Derricks land until about 1830 when he moved to Jackson Cty-founded Peters Cove.. this chanery court suit mentions Jonas,Jacob and John as witnesses.. I descend from Wm Derrick 1795TN who married Sally Kennemer..and from James Clement Fulks..son of John Fox (Fulks) of Woodville and Honeycomb valley of Marshall County, Al.. my mother said alot of the family began spelling the name Fultz in the 1920's..but old deeds in the family show it spelled Fox, and Fuchs..
