Hi. George Washington Derr b. 4/5/1843 was my great great grandfather. My great grandfather was Jacob Henry, Married to Sarah Ann Sharrer and my gradfather was Leonard Lester b 1885, d May 25, 1957, my grandmother was Pearl Degroft and my father was their youngest child, Roy Lewis Derr, b 11/14/1921, d 1994. While looking in Ancestry.com I found a George Derr born on 8/19/1801 Baptism date 10/18/1801 listed as the father of George W. Derr b 4/5/1834 PA. and that this George (George W's father) was the son of Henry Derr and his wife Christina. He is listed as one of the First Settlers of "THE FORKS OF THE DELAWARE AND THEIR DESCENDANTS Anno 1795. I also found a Henry Derr listed in the Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500-1900. Only one Henry Derr was listed and he Was naturalized in Philadelphia on April 7, 1761, the location being Berks. I don't know what Berks refers to. The source of this information is Gale Research. Do you have any information on the ancestors of George Derr/Sarah Strickin that would confirm my belief that Henry Derr & Christina are the grandparents of George W. Derr?
If you are looking for decendents of George W. I only have information his son Jacob Henry's, Son L. L. Derr. My grand parents moved to Montana in the early 1900's and I am at a loss as to information on most of the rest of the decendants of the family. I also have a Great Uncle named L. Earl Derr but I only know that he was the son of my Gradfather's brother and his mother was my grandmonters sister so her maiden name would have been Degroft.
