Thank you for the additional information about the James family. It is helpful to my research. I did see on the 1830 census in Stafford Co., Anne Dermott was listed next to Mary James and thought there must be a family connection. I neglected to mention in the short bio that sometime between 1806-1813 Alice (James) Dermott married a Mr. Bird as evidenced in the guardianship records in the City of Washington. The land purchased by James Dermott of John James was described in his Will only as a "small tract" on Ocokeek [sic], does not say when. I was interested in the location of this land, to determine the proximity between this piece and the piece that was owned by Michael Dermott on Accokeek which was sold to Augustine Washington in 1722.
James Reed Dermott had close ties with Lund Washington who was the executor of his Will. They both first married Grayson sisters and Lund Washington and Alice James Dermott were cousins.
Do you know if it's possible to get a copy of the Lund Washington Manuscript, possibly inter-library loan? Your books may also offer more information for my research so I will be requesting them, as well, via inter-library loan.
