Dear Stephanie
I live in Springfield,IL. My father was Robert Vankirk DePriest. His mother was Clara DePriest. McCoy was her maiden name. Her father was my Great Grandfather. All the names you are talking about are familiar to me. The old home place was named Cherry Hills. It originally had 500 acres of land to go with only the house. Pa Pa DePriest, my Grandfather had lumber mills and talc mines in the Lychburg, VA area. Aunt Bertie was my dads sister. All original siblings have passed on. As to who lived in the orignal home place, I don't know any facts. I do know that Cherry Hills has not been in the family since about 1915? That is when the old home place was sold a split up between silblings of that time. Pa Pa DePriest passed on and Cherry Hills and all land and holdings were sold.
Hope this helps a little. I have more facts, some solid, some things I have been told.
Ollie.
