After further checking, it appears that Jeffrey Depriest / Jeffery Dupriest may have been a Free Person Of Color?

Database of Illinois Servitude and Emancipation Records (IRAD):
00/00/1818 Gallatin Co., p.88 Jeffrey Depriest - 2 Free people of color, including Jeffrey
00/00/1820 Gallatin Co., p.84 Jeffery Dupriest - 2 Free people of color, including Jeffery

I have not found any records for Jeffery after 1820.

If Allen was born 1811 in Illinois, his family must not have stayed there long.

Another DePriest mystery.
