Hello,
My Great great grandfather Anton Deppe 1811-1872 was born in Kluckhof Lippe-Detmold emigrated to America in 1842 via Hamburg to New Orleans came up the mississippi to St.Louis and settled in Southern Indiana, Freelandville.
He married Dorethea Mesch and had 5 kids including my great grandfather August who fathered my grandfather Emil. There are still some Deppes in and around Knox county Indiana tho I live in Kentucky. All of these records I found in the local church. Also have been in touch at one time with archives in Kluckhof where they have quite a few records. It's likely that we are of the same line. I also have learned the German Deppes may have come from Italy and that our name means "Clumsy or Awkward" (Almost wish I hadn't learned that)because they were very tall people. Indeed my family still are. Interested in any info you may have concerning your Lippe connection.

Regards,
Bryan Deppe
