Well, you are not going to believe this!
First, the info came from a Family Archives CD that I have. It does not list the person who contributed it, only the date of 1995. You have to have the CD in order to request FTM site to send you the name of the person who contributed it...which I have done. But it being so old an entry, not sure if the address will be the same. Will have to see.
Now, finally found Louis in the 1900 census...he was listed under the name DuPalmer Leois...and everyone had that "Leois" dittoed as the last name..no wonder it was hard to find. Only lucked out because I was looking for those Sutphin's in Mr. Airy since I thought they might be living with her family. But I was wrong. Here is the info.
(spelled as in the census)
Leois, DuPalmer, born May, 1853, age 47, male born in Italy, arrived in US in 1890, an alien, listed as a stone cutter, been married 7 years.
Barbbre, wife, born Oct 1876, age 23, married 7 years, 3 children born, 3 living
Venice, daughter, born Dec. 1894, age 5, born Virginia

Mary M., daughter, born Jan 1899, age 1, born N. Carolina
The dwelling 257, household #260. This is a farm and he owns it, no mortgage.
In addition, I was able to find him in the 1910 census as well and this will really surprise you.....
Dwelling #377 Household #383
Loius DePalmer, age 57, married 18 years, Foreman stonecutter,
Barbry, age 33, married 18 years, had 8 children, 8 children living
Necia, age 15
Annie, age 12
Mary, age 10
Lizzie, age 8
Cecil, age 7
Pascal, age 5
Margaret, age 3
Beatrice,age 4 months
Mt. Airy Township, enumerated on 16 May, 1910
ED #136, sheet 20 A by Fletcher Saunders
So there is Lizzie...no doubt Elisabeth. Also, the son Pascal was probably named for the father of Luigi...and probably would be Pasquale...the English is often Pascal and more often Pat or Patsy.
Ain't it great!!! You are going to have a lot to look at when you get to Mr. Airy!
Also, there was a listing at the LDS site ...www.familysearch.org It stated that an Annie Mae Depalma was born on 4 Jan, 1897 in Surry, NC with parents Louis Depalma and mother Barbara Sutphin. Then there is an entry for her marriage...on 3 May, 1920 to Henry Millard Shelton.
Also, that CD enry I sent to you indicated that Louis passed away around 1916...that might help find him.
I looked for Louis on the Italians to America CD from 1880-1892 and could not find him. Probably named Luigi...
I will continue to see if I can find anything else and let you know about the submitter of the info when I get the message back.
Have a great day, Susan
