Hello Scott,
My great grandfather is Angelo Depalma (his father was Angelo Mario Deplama-mother Maria Donata). From what we can find on EllisIsland.org, we think he emmigrated from Italy in 1905 or 1902. . His ship records list him as married-but since he met my married great grandmother (she was already married and living in NY to a Charles Marone who she emmigrated with from Italy)this means he left a wife in Italy or brought her here and left her in NY.(if you have info of this we would like to know) From what we know, he worked as a street cleaner (possibly for the City of New York)He met Felica Marone (Nardone-maiden) and ran off with her to Virginia where my grand father Antonio Micheal DePalma was born (1908)They later moved to Little Italy in Baltimore and had 2 more children, Louis and Elizabeth. Angelo would dissapear for months but did stay long enough in Baltimore to work for the city helping to build bridges and streets. After Elizabeth was born, he dissapeared , we assume, forever. Since your grandfathers parents name match , and we do recognize the brothers names, I feel certian this is a link. My grandfather and his siblings changed the family name to DePalmer when they moved out of Baltimore county becauseMy mother and I have been searching for this for years and it was by chance I saw your message. Did your grandfather ever see or talk about his brother Angelo? Would love to hear from you.
