Hello Lisa,
I am a direct descendant of Jesse Denton through Drewrey, then Cynthia, then Rederford, then my Papa John, to my father Wallace then me, Tony. Jesse appears to have come into NC from Brunswick County Va. He is mentioned in a will left by his father John in 1772. At that time he was under 21. This may be another hurdle over the brick wall. Rootsweb traces Jesse to John L, then to Edward, then to John, the to another John who is the son of Richard Denton the first Denton to land on these shores. Hope this information proofs useful.
