Dentons, Mitchells New England to North Carolina

Matthew Mitchell came to America (Massachusetts) in early 1600's with Rev. Richard Denton. They were associated with each other here also. I have a record of an Elizabeth Mitchell who married a Samuel Denton in Granville Co. N.C. in 1798. One source says she was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts. The Dentons of Granville Co. are supposedly descended from Rev. Richard Denton. Anyone have any record of these two families staying together and going South? I think I'm related to those Dentons and also to Matthew Mitchell per dna results. Trying to find a connection.
