This portrait of Mr. John M. Denton appears on page 330 of The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.XX, no.9, September, 1897. See that article for more information. He was the son of a farmer in Northampton, England. He came to Canada about 1855. He was very involved in horticulture and fruit growing. He also enjoyed floriculture and entomology. He had a business as a merchant tailor in London, Ontario, Canada. He died on 24 March 1897.
