The Clayton Tribune (Rabun Co. GA) Thursday, November 17, 1938:

“Just From The Mountains---My father was reared on Hightower and went back there to die at the age of 31. He had been sick with diabetes for three years. One Friday in April he took the notion to visit his brother, Elisha Denton, up on Hightower. He was taken ill on Sunday and passed away on Monday night. At that time the road across Unicoi Gap was so bad that he could not be brought back home and his remains now lie at Lower Hightower among the people he once loved.” ---James E. Denton.
